Pemain mengontrol Sgt. Daniel "Reck" Recker, "tangan kanan" dari US Special Operation yang disebut "Tombstone". Anggota tim yang lain meliputi pemimpin pasukan SSgt. Clayton "Pac" Pakowski, Spesialis senjata berat SSgt. Kimble "Irish" Graves, dan seorang medis Sgt. Clayton "Pac" Pakowski. Pada awal cerita, Tombstone bergabung dengan agen CIA Laszlo W. Kovic, awalnya dikenal sebagai "Agen W" pada Battlefield 3, dan agen Secret Service China Huang "Hannah" Shuyi. Dalam cerita ini juga melibatkan Dimitri "Dima" Mayakovsky dari Battlefield 3 yang selamat dari ledakan nuklid di Paris 6 tahun lalu dan di dibawah tahanan China untuk alasan yang tidak diketahui.
